"I’ve thought about climate change for years.
It always gave me a mix of uncertainty and frustration -- frustration with the powers that be that aren’t doing enough about it. I also felt guilt because I know that my lifestyle makes a negative impact on the environment. This led to some apathy, because I didn’t know what I could do to improve the situation.
Working with Carbon Neutral Indiana to become carbon neutral was inspiring.
They’re good at approaching people in a friendly manner. They also are matter of fact and practical. They say, “This is the issue, and here’s what we want to do to solve it.” They also say, “Here’s how much you’re contributing to the issue, and here’s what you can do to take care of it.”
After becoming carbon neutral I feel a lot better.
I’m working something into my daily lifestyle that helps take care of at least my portion of the problem. This actually makes me feel proud. It’s nice to know that I’m doing my part to take care of the carbon that I emit into the atmosphere.
Whenever anyone becomes carbon neutral, it puts into perspective the impact you’re having on the Earth. What might we accomplish together? Well, if people can see how making small changes like this can have a big impact... it makes the climate crisis feel a lot less insurmountable. It seems like something we can actually solve."
